The Products I'm Using to Avoid Loose Skin Surgery After Weight Loss

Like tax day, I knew it was coming, but I figured it was far enough away that I had more important things to focus on. I'm talking about the loose skin that inevitably follows rapid weight loss. Now here I am, wrinkled as a Shar-Pei yet more than 150 pounds lighter after using Zepbound for 18 months.

Whether you've lost weight from GLP-1s, bariatric surgery, or through diet and exercise, the loose skin challenge is one of the final frontiers at your goal weight. Unless you have young skin filled with hydration, collagen, and super-stacked with genetic bliss, it's nearly inevitable.

While I'll be the first to say there is no magic cure that snatches that skin right back into place. Extra loud on that sentiment for the menopausal women in the back reading this.

At the same time, there's a lot of money to be wasted by trying product after product to no avail. Then, there are a few things that help, and that's what I want to showcase for you today.

8 Products to Try for Loose Skin After Rapid Weight Loss

From bags under the eyes as facial volume falls to belly wrinkles that are only adorable on dogs, here's what I recommend that you try to get the loose skin a little more under control.

For what it's worth, I'm a 51-year-old woman who lost more than half of her body weight on Zepbound.

I'm currently in the "thankful for the weight loss and health improvements" while still being dismayed with what I see from my deflated birthday suit. I'm frugal, but will spend money where there's value and benefit.

This is one of those products that won't magically erase loose skin overnight, but it can make it look and feel better.

Dermalogica Dynamic Skin Sculptor gives an immediate smoothing effect on crepey skin while ingredients like Pro-NAD+ Complex, rice protein, and microalgae work over time to support firmer, more hydrated skin.

I like that it targets the areas many of us notice most after major weight loss, including the arms, stomach, thighs, and neck.

Here's that frugal side coming out, with Gold Bond's Age Renew Tight & Firm being my "go-to" daily cream.

You can also get the Age Renew Duo pack if loose skin is also alongside crepey skin.

Give this one some time to see progress, as even their studies show it takes two weeks to see results.

It's packed with vitamins, nutrients, and hydration elements to keep skin supple. I apply twice a day, while using my gua sha handlebar tool to assist with lymphatic flow and cellulite reduction.

amlactin and retinol a for skin care

I met a woman at Ulta while waiting for a haircut who couldn't have been older than 55. She was 82! I asked her about her skin routine and immediately purchased the products.

For this to work, use the "sandwich" method. Layer one dose of Amlactin. Let it dry. Use a pea-sized amount of Retinol across your face — overuse will lead to peeling and burning. Then stack another layer of Amlactin on top.

Use only at night since UV rays cause Retinol to break down.

While this won't get rid of sagging, it will remove dead layers of skin for fresh skin renewal. Start by doing this once or twice a week. Doing it nightly will lead to skin shedding. I lookd liked I was sunburned and peeling for a big holiday event in December due to overuse.

I'd like to put this one under "why didn't I think of that?" While you can't get rid of loose skin from weight loss altogether, this Body & Lift Patch tape helps give the illusion of smoothness.

I live in the South Texas humidity, and these things stay on throughout every hot flash and sweat session. They are transparent enough to remain unseen while forcing compression.

It's like a winkle lift with plastic wrap!

Bio Oil

This Bio Oil trio got me through my first six months when I was trying to get ahead of the loose skin.

I knew that super-responder success I was having meant my skin would eventually sag. I wanted to get rid of the stretch marks, and it served this purpose valiantly.

Plus, with the trio comes a milky lotion, an oil, and a more jelly-like substance that could pair well with the gua sha scraping, lymphatic drainage, and cupping I was doing all over my body.

I'm playing the long game in loose skin after weight loss, so I keep collagen intake a priority.

However, collagen needs vitamin C to work. Even the control freak, I like to separate the two supplements.

collagen and vitamin c supplements

Ancient Nutrition is my preferred brand, and I use the Menopause Support product with collagen and vitamin D. Then I go frugal with a daily vitamin C supplement.

You can get 15% off the Heated Muscle Scraper using code QV29WNRZ.

I've mentioned gua sha scraping a few times in this article. I started using it for tight muscles and pain relief.

Turns out, there's a loose skin after weight loss benefit, too.

Gua Sha helps mainly by temporarily reducing puffiness and improving circulation, so skin can look a little firmer and more defined.

It does not truly tighten stretched skin or replace treatments that stimulate collagen or address larger volume loss.

While I have an arsenal of gua sha tools, I love this heated version since I'm always cold since I started Zepbound.

Other Gus Sha tools I recommend:

  • Emollient Balm: I bought this in January 2025 ad I'm still using it in the summer of 2026. A little goes a long way.

  • Body & Face Gua Sha Combo: Two pieces to work stubborn areas like hips and thighs, with a piece to help get that snatched face look.

  • Scalp Massager Comb: Brushing your hair has never felt so good. Plus, when you relax the head muscles, it helps balance aesthetics in the face and jawline.

  • Gua Sha How-To Book: I'm a lifelong learner, and instead of paying a massage therapist to do the scraping (again, frugal), I learned on my own!

If you're looking for a simple self-care habit after major weight loss, a dry brushing set is worth a look.

With different brush sizes for everything from your legs and back to smaller areas, this premium set is an easy way to exfoliate while gently stimulating the skin and supporting healthy lymphatic flow.

I love the invigorating feeling before a shower. It also helps after having a high-fat "cheat" meal during your GLP-1 journey and the bloating or edema that can follow.

Loose Skin or Not: Celebrate Your Progress

Most of us didn't start a GLP-1 journey because we wanted perfect abs or tighter arms. We started because we wanted to feel better, lower our health risks, move without pain, or simply have a longer, healthier life.

I'll admit, though, I was surprised by how much looser my skin became after losing more than 100 pounds, especially after menopause. Skin that used to bounce back just... didn't. That's a reality many of us weren't prepared for.

The truth is, there isn't a miracle cream, supplement, or gadget that completely fixes loose skin. Surgery is the only option that can remove it, and even that won't magically return you to the body you imagine in your head.

Instead, celebrate what your body has accomplished. Find leggings and workout clothes that make you feel confident and supported. Keep lifting weights, eating enough protein, staying hydrated, and taking care of your skin. Those habits will do far more for your long-term health than chasing perfection.

If loose skin is part of your story, you're in good company. Wear it as proof of how far you've come, not as a reason to forget everything you've gained along the way. Hopefully, these ideas have given you a few practical ways to make loose skin a little less frustrating while you continue building a healthier life.
